Killing It by Asia Mackay

I am so bad! This post was supposed to be up yesterday, I thought it was today. Oops. In fairness, I didn’t actually receive the book until Friday, and have had a horrendous flu.

Any hoo…

From the blurb:

Every working mum has had to face it.

The guilt-fuelled, anxiety-filled first day back in the office after maternity leave.

But this working mum is one of a kind.

Meet Alexis Tyler.

An elite covert agent within Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

Her first project back is a high-stakes hit of global significance and the old boys network of government espionage is far from ready for the return of an operational mother. But woe betide anyone who ever tells Alexis Tyler ‘you can’t’.

She will have it all. Or she’ll die trying . . .

And yes, she damn well will be home for bath time.

This book is so much fun! I imagine it will resonate strongly with mum’s everywhere, as Lex prioritises her home and work life (or tries to)…

What I like about this book is that it’s kind of dark, Lex knows there’s a part of her that likes her job, and having to assassinate people and she embraces it.

When Lex involves her baby in her undercover activities I don’t know whether to condemn her or applaud her confidence in her ability to protect her child.

This book is fun, exciting and Lex kicks arse.
