Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas  (Throne of Glass 4)

We’re almost up to date! Are you excited? I feel like I would completely ace an exam on ToG right now!
So, let’s get on with the review of book 4 – I am going to try and make this spoiler free…If you aren’t up to date with the series read my previous reviews here

From the blurb:

Celeana Sardothien is cloaked in her assassin’s hood once more. She is back in Rifthold, but this time she is no one’s slave. She must delve into her most painful memories and fight for her survival, while resisting a smouldering passion that might very well consume her heart. And she will face her former master, the King of Assassins, again – to wreak revenge for a decade of pain…

Aelin Ashryver Galathynius is back in Ardarlan to get revenge against the two men who ruined her life, Arobynn King of the Assasins and the King of Ardarlan.

Aelin doesn’t know that her cousin Aedion, who is still loyal to the rightful heir of Terrasen, has been arrested by the king for treason, and is due to be executed during an elaborate celebration of Prince Dorian’s birthday.

Prince Dorian has been enslaved by his father; his conciousness has been repressed by the Valg demon now inhabiting his body. He must watch, powerless, whilst he commits terrible deeds…

Chaol is no longer Captain of the Guard, and seems to have no clue which side of the war he is on. He refuses to accept that Dorian is gone, but to be honest I don’t really care about Chaol anymore.

Manon Blackbeak is training her coven and wyvern Abraxos under the direction of Duke Perrington. She is getting seriously creepy vibes from the Duke, and is beginning to question his instructions more and more, despite her Grandmother’s orders… she is finding the Blackbeak motto “Obedience, Discipline, Brutality” difficult to follow. What is the Duke up to, and what is happening to the witches he is experimenting on?

Everything comes to a head in the fourth installment of this addictive fantasy series!

I loved this book and can’t wait to read Empire of Storms. I love Manon and Abraxos – I especially love that Abraxos is a gentle beast who loves wildflowers, and that Manon rolls her eyes but secretly loves him. I picture Abraxos as Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon. Also, best nickname ever Fire Breathing Bitch Queen
